The sidewalk chalk contest returns tomorrow at the River Street Art Festival in Troy.

Fabulous.

In one word, that how this weekend is shaping up to look. So if you don't have plans to get out and do something, you'll want to make some.

Art Night
The Electric City is open late tonight with lots of music, art. Stop in at the Gallery at 440 Jay street to see the group photo exhibit. Joleen Button has a show at City Hall, where you'll also find a screening of films by Mike Feurstein and Richa Khandelwal Bhat. If you're hungry, stop in and try the Stacy's Mom at Ambition Cafe on Jay Street.

Roller Derby
The Albany All Stars wrap up their season on Saturday night at the Washington Avenue Armory. the Empire Skate Troopers take on the Queen City Roller Girls. Doors open at 6, bout starts at 7. $10 in advance $12, under 12 $4. *

Trashion
Trash meets fashion on Saturday night at the Trashion show at the Troy Atrium building. Models will show off fashion creations made by local artists and designers from -- yep--trash. Mirk and the New Familiars are playing, along with The Relics. 6PM. $20 at the door, $15 early registration. $12 for students.

Festivals
The Hamilton Hill Arts Center is holding a Juneteenth celebration this weekend in Schenectady Central Park. Music, art, workshops and other activities.

Indian Ladder Farm is hosting a local food festival on Sunday from 10 to 4.

The River Street Art Festival in Troy is this Saturday from 10 to 6. Erin Harks, Ashley Pond and Paula Cole are among the performers. Check out the chalk paintings on the sidewalk and vote for your favorite.

Schenectady hosts the Upper Union Street Strawberry Festival & Art Show on Saturday from 10 to 3. Gourmet Markets, entertainment, an art show, kids activities and pony rides.

Find a patio
Grab some food and drink and hang out on a favorite patio. Check the outdoor dining guide to find just the right place.

Music
Tonight
The Hoborchestra and Blue Factory open the garage band series in the Albany Public Library garage tonight.
BEWARE! the Other Head of Science will be at The Troy Bike Rescue (51 3rd St., Troy) with Pine Island and Steer tonight at 8:30 $3

Saturday
Ben Karis-Nix joins JP & Crooked Toe at Red Square on Saturday night at 8.
Mirk and the New Familiars and Tweed McGee play Valentine's on Saturday at 9 p.m.
Phish comes to SPAC for shows on Saturday and Sunday.
Putnam Den is hosting a Phish after-party on Saturday night at 11 with Brothers Past and Wyllys .
The Ale House hosts Folding Sky's CD release party on Saturday night.

Dance
DJs Lazer & Blazer and Properly Chilled are at Daisy Baker's in Troy on Saturday. Free.

Art
It's the best weekend we've had in a while to take a trip out to Omi International Arts Center to check out the Fields Sculpture Park. Or visit Olana for an afternoon on the grounds and a tour of the beautiful Persian mansion.

Scooter Pie at Midnight
Scooter Pie performs her midnight burlesque show on Saturday at midnight.

Comedy
Talk show host and stand up comedian Chelsea Handler does her stand is at The Palace Theater tonight at 8.

The Pearl Street Pub in Albany hosts Comedy on the Edge--stand up comedy with 9 p.m.

Mop & Bucket have another improv show tonight Underground at Proctors. 8PM

Outdoors
Tonight from 7:30 to 9 there's an "Almost Summer Solstice Hike through the Albany Pine Bush. Wear sturdy walking shoes and long pants and bring drinking water. and meet up at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center at 195 New Karner Road $2 per person. $5 per family. Under 5 yrs free. Register at their website.

The Albany Area Astronomers Association holds its monthly Star Watch tonight at Grafton Lakes State Park at 9.

More star-gazing
The Hirsch Observatory at RPI is open to the public on Saturday night. On-site telescopes range from 90 mm - 16". Free.

Cool off
It's going to get hot. Here are some of the pools and beaches where you can cool off.

Father's Day Picnic
If you're looking for something to do with Dad on Sunday, Albany's German-American Club is hosting a picnic at their outdoor biergarten in Schuetzenpark at their headquarters on Cherry Street. 1-7PM. Adults are $3 and kids under 12 are free. German food and beers are available for purchase.

The Beautiful Game
Wolff's Biergarten is showing all the World Cup matches this weekend, and you can watch with a side of potato pancakes or curry fries. Here's the schedule.

Ice Cream
A hot, sunny day is reason enough to get some ice cream. Stop by one of your favorite seasonal stands or try a stop on the AOA ice cream tour.
