The Scoop
For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

I don't think they'll stop the cord-cutting until they start allowing people to choose which stations they want. A "Pick 20" plan would please vast amounts of customers, I'd think. Customization is where it's at, and the tech is more than capable of making that happen.

I've already cut. My wife and I watched about 5 channels, none of them in this package. I recall that the cable companies where fighting a la carte since the 80s with any number of excuses. The only excuse now is laziness and the money they rake in for things people don't want to watch. The internet is going to kill 'channel spew' cable tv.

They took Animal Planet off my package and replaced it with Golf. I'm still pissed at that- I miss "It's Me or the Dog!"

Also, the prohibition on serving HD channels in something like this is pretty ridiculous. I'm happy I went down to the $12/month plan (broadcast basic) recently and got Netflix. The only time the TV comes on for anything other than my Roku box these days is the local news.

We just dropped down to the $12 package - we would find ourselves watching some of the most mindless programs just because it was there. We're saving over $50 a month and you can catch just about anything on hulu or with net flix anyway.
