I'm starting to get a cruel Queen for a Day vibe from this corporate PR/marketing program.

I think it is kind of uncool that the JCC wants to use more money to "help themselves" with marketing than they want to use to help needy families. I am a member there and this really leaves a BAD taste in my mouth.

Check out the organizations finances before donating/voting - RPI > WHAT? JCC> Almost as much $ as RPI! And think about what the $ is being used for - salaries or direct benefits to the folks. Frankly that JCC $ for marketing is in HORRIBLE taste.

My friend Jahmere recently started a theater company in Albany and is in the running for the $25K. www.refresheverything.com/encore.

There's also a push for funding to organize a new local theater group: http://www.refresheverything.com/encore

Why does RPI need this money? Can't they just take a little from the president's salary? Can I sign myself up to be in the running for a grant to pay off my college loans?

Thanks for linking to the Mueller Center project. I wan to take a few moments to address some of the concerns voiced by commenters.

This is a student lead project to create a great little educational program in our main on campus gym.

I am not directly involved with the project, but as the Chair of the Student Sustainability Task Force here at RPI, I am doing everything I can to support it.

The institute definitely makes some investment in sustainability initiatives but usually just ones that will pay for themselves (it is a business after all). Therefore, with projects like this that are more about educational value and demonstrating really great ideas, we sometimes have to look to external sources of funding.

I hope you will all consider helping us out with this energy efficiency initiative by voting for us throughout the month of Dec.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
