Merry Christmas you old building and loan!
The Palace Theater is screening the Frank Capra Classic, It's a Wonderful Life. Most people we know are kind of split on this movie -- you love it or you hate it. If you love it, even if you've seen it on TV a hundred times, you'll notice things on the big screen that you've never seen before. And it's fun sharing it with other fans. You can catch it tonight at 7 at The Palace. $5, under 14 $3.

White Christmas Swing Dance
The Albany Elks Lodge on South Allen is hosting its Christmas Swing Dance tonight from 8-11 with The Georgie Wonders Orchestra. There's a free lesson from 7-8. $15, $10 for students.

Last Run/Fireworks
Albany's last big 5K run starts this Saturday night at 5. Registration is closed, but if you come out to cheer on the runners, you can also catch the post-race fireworks display. The race starts on State Street near the Judicial Building then heads up State to Washington Park, and back down State to the Verizon Building.

SPAM
Scooter Pie at Midnight brings her Rock 'n Roll burlesque show to Valentine's on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Taste of Philanthropy
This Sunday from 2-4, sample some yummy stuff and support The Food Pantries For the Capital District at Center Steak's Taste of Philanthropy. For a $20 donation you can sample Crab Cakes with Chipoltle remoulade, Thai-curry beef skewers, spiedis, sliders, cider-Chipotle Chicken Wings, Beef short rib sliders with boursin and more. Tickets here.

Art Walk
Tonight is the last Art Walk of the year in Schenectady. You can check out the model trains at the Schenectady Museum for free tonight. Shops and galleries are open late with music and art, there are exhibits in Robb Alley at Proctor's and Ed Dague reads from his book, Six and Eleven tonight at 5:30 at The Open Door Bookstore on Jay Street in Schenectady. Free.

Making it up
MopCo has another Spontaneous Broadway show tonight at 8, Underground at Proctor's. They'll make up a Broadway show based on audience suggestions. $14, $6 students & seniors.

You'll shoot your eye out
A Christmas Story, little Ralphie's quest for a Red Rider B.B. Gun, continues this weekend at Capital Rep. Tonight at 7:30, Saturday 3 and 7:30, Sunday at 2:30.

Model Trains
The model trains are back at the Schenectady Museum for the holidays. Check them out on Saturday from noon-3.

Melodies of Christmas
Proctor's hosts the annual Melodies of Christmas holiday concert by the Empire State Youth Orchestra and Chorale. Tonight and Saturday at 7, Sunday at 3. $25.

Detour
The locally produced feature length film Detour premiers at Proctor's tonight. This mystery, surrounding the kidnapping of a nurse features a number of Capital Region residents and includes music by Missy Higgins and editing by former Capital Region resident Tony Grocki (Miller's Crossing, Ghost Dog). Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online only.

Raise The Roof
The Sanctuary for Independent Media celebrates its 5th birthday tomorrow night with Raise the Roof, a party with video screenings of works they're produced through the years. Pot luck dinner and a chocolate fountain. Saturday at 8 at The Sanctuary.

Skiing Santas
Dress up as Santa and go skiing at Windham Mountain this weekend and you'll get two midweek/ non holiday vouchers free. You'll need to register and donate at least $10 to the local food pantry at Hope Restoration Church in Windham. Sunday from 8-4

Shop local
This is the last weekend for the Holiday Shoppe at The Arts Center for the Capital Region ( Tonight until 4 and Saturday from 11-3). You can also pick up some local gifts at the Tight Knit Market at this Saturday's Troy Farmer's Market, The Shaker Christmas Craft Fair and the holiday gift show at Sage College of Albany on Saturday from 11-5.

Lounge @ Daisy Baker's, in Troy. Saturday night around 10pm. $5 cover, but it's worth it. Properly Chilled making his last appearance as a resident DJ at Baker's, so we can expect a no-holds-barred latin, dub, reggae explosion.

For the Last Run 5K, please note that the fireworks are actually before the run. Fireworks start at 4:45 and the race kicks off at 5.
