What's wrong with this weather?

With lows of -1 to -14, you may not want to stray far from the blankets and the fireplace this weekend. But if you want to combat cabin fever, we've rounded up some stuff to do this weekend that looks like it might be fun.

Whatever you decide to do, dress warmly, and have a great weekend!

Cabin Fever Party
Dance yourself warm at the 3rd Friday Capital Swing Dance at the Albany Elks Lodge No. 49 (25 South Allen Street). The Lustre Kings headline. 8-11. $10, $12, $15.

Music in a giant concrete egg
This is a good weekend for music at The Egg.
+Tonight, amazing jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton will be there with her interpretation on jazz standards . $28

+On Saturday, the 9 piece Brooklyn collective Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings will be at The Egg with their gritty brand gospel, soul funk. You. Will. Chair dance. $29.50 - $44.50.

+Tonight at 8 Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned, The Red Lions, Glenn Yoder & Littlefoot are upstairs at Valentine's.

+Singer/songwriter Dar Williams plays the Clark Art Institute on Saturday night at 8. $30, members & Students $27.

Wurstfest 2011
When life gets cold, eat some wurst. The German Club of Albany is hosting Wurstfest on Saturday night. $20 gets you beer, wurst, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, dessert and more. 5PM

Museums are warm and full of cool stuff
Check out the Post Secret exhibit at UAlbany or pop into the NYS Museum (both free).
The Clark has a new show that features European portraits and Mass MoCA's larger than life Material World exhibit is very cool and only open for a few more weeks. Also, there's still time to catch the Uncertain Spectator exhibit at EMPAC.

Art Night
If the President decides to stick around a few extra hours he could check out Art Night in Schenectady. Shops and galleries downtown are open late with art and music, and there's free admission to the Schenectady Museum.

Frost Faire
The 15th Annual Frost Faire Winter Festival is this Saturday from 10:30 to 3:00 at the Saratoga National Historical Park. They've had to cancel some of the outdoor events due to the impending single digit temperatures, but the indoor stuff is still going on.

Grafton Lakes State Park Winter Festival
Snow Sculptures, dog sled rids, workships , $5 snowshoe rentals a Polar Plunge (umm...we'll watch, thanks) and more at Grafton's 26th annual Winter Festival this Saturday starting at 10AM. Free.

Once you get going, you'll be warm. Here are some places to try.

Hockey
RPI is home at the Houston Field House this weekend. They play Harvard tonight at 7 and Dartmouth on Saturday at 4.

Union College Concert Series
Union College's Memorial Chapel is an impressive place to hear a concert and this Sunday afternoon their classical concert series continues with pianist Nareh Arghamanyan. The award winning, world renowned musician will play Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme by Corelli, Liszt's Totentanz and Brahms' Paganini Variations. 3PM. $20, $8 students.

Brunch
Looks like a good weekend to hang out over chocolate chip pancakes, eggs Benedict and Bloody Marys. Trying to decide where to go? Here are a few ideas.

Movies
Awards season is underway. The Spectrum is showing True Grit, The King's Speech, The Black Swan, The Social Network (yep...it's still there) and other contenders.

My Dog Tulip
The Saratoga Film Forum is screening this animated film for adults tonight. My Dog Tulip features the voices of Christopher Plummer, the late Lynn Redgrave, and Isabella Rossellini. It's a bittersweet retrospective of the filmmakers account of a 16-year relationship with his adopted german shepherd, Tulip. Tonight at 7:30, Sunday at 3. $7, $5 for students and film forum members.

Swap Soup
We've got a long cold winter ahead of us. Make some soup, have your friends make some soup -- then swap it on Saturday, National Soup Swap Day.

This might not appeal to everyone, but there is a gun show at the Albany Convention Center on Saturday from 9-5 and Sunday from 9-3. It's interesting to see - and there are non-gun items for sale including some antiques, artwork, and other collectibles (and general Army/Navy supply stuff).
