Saratoga Borders to close
Borders has filed for bankruptcy protection and its Saratoga store makes the list of those that will close. According to a court filing, the stores on the close list are costing Borders $2 million a week in losses. [NYT] [WSJ] Earlier on AOA: the Wolf Road Borders closes.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the Saratoga building. Granted, downtown Saratoga has a stronger retail market than many other upstate communities, but the structure was built specifically to house a Borders store, and it can be costly to retrofit a box structure like this one. Look at how long the Borders on Wolf Road has stood vacant.

Closing the Saratoga Springs store but keeping the Clifton Park store open is a crime.
(I read the articles above, and I understand 2 mil a week; this is my gut talking).
