Sean Rowe's "Magic" is out on ANTI- records this week.

Here are a few things to keep in mind, look ahead to, or take care of this week -- from the weather (February-like), to graph theory, to flowers, to music...

Bouncing off the walls

The kids are out of school for winter break this week. Here are a few ways to keep them occupied.

Lion King

The month-long run of The Lion King starts Tuesday at Proctors. Ticket prices start at $20 and go up from there. The show is expected to bring 80,000 people to downtown Schenectady over the course of the run.

Arts and Sciences

+ Skidmore professor of mathematics Alice Dean will be giving a lecture Wednesday evening on "some mathematical puzzles and pearls" in the field of graph theory (example of a graph theory question: how many colors would you need if you wanted to make a map of the United State in which no state touched another state with the same color?). free

+ "Marketing mentor" Illse Benun will be at the Sage campus in Albany Wednesday evening for a talk aimed at helping creative professionals better manage money. The talk is sponsored by Upstate AIGA. $20 / $10 for AIGA members / free for students

+ Photographer Timothy Archibald will be at Union Thursday afternoon to talk about "Echolilia," his project documenting autistic son. The exhibit is on display at Union until March 11. free

Comments

Please cover the Siena Women's basketball team Pink Zone coming up this Friday - honoring breast cancer survivors by bringing them out on the court in a pregame celebration. More details are on the school site and TW cable has been running a special program about it. (I'm excited, because I will be one of the people introduced.)
