An extra helping of overindulgence

Missing "Forget the Resolution" week? Then chew on this.

McIntyres menu. Spotted on the menu at McIntyre's Pub in Watervliet: The "K2 Challenge." Two pounds of hamburger served with eight slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and a pound of French fries served on a bun. They bring it out to you on a pizza pan.

It costs $25.99, but if you eat it all, it's free.

Has anyone ever conquered K2? The bartender says yes. Once. The guy faltered a couple of times and almost gave up, but after about 45 minutes he'd eaten it all, down to the last fry.

We're not sure whether to raise our glass to him, or pass the Pepto Bismol.

I am all over this...

Where's the vomitorium?

You know, I'd be okay with this kind of promotion of overindulgence (it's a free country), but I wish an establishment that offered something like this would give half the profit to the local food bank. Or maybe that would be too ironic.

I should ask first: Are their burgers any good?

My roommate is the one who bested the K2.

Overall, the burgers at McIntyre's are pretty good. For those familiar with giant burgers, this is not one giant gross meat cake but 2 pounds is split up into 4 or 5 normal patties. The hardest part? The bun but is enormous and very thick, about the size and density of a 9" birthday cake. When he initially ordered it, the cook was excited just to be able to make one and when we left, the patrons at the bar cheered.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
