Here are a few things to keep in mind, look ahead to, or take care of this week -- from the weather (up and down), to opera, to comedy, to dads, to music...

Yep, the Week Ahead is back, but we're trying a bit of a different format. We'll see how this goes...

Monday

Weather: Cloudy. Highs around 70. Chance of some rain.

Storytelling: The Front Parlor Series
The Front Parlor Series storytelling night returns to the Ale House in Troy. This month's them is "animals." 7:30 pm

Theater: Broadcast of an opera version of Macbeth at Proctors
Proctors will be showing the London Royal Opera House's production of Verdi's Macbeth opera. 7 pm - $25

Tuesday

Weather: Cloudy. Highs in the upper 60s. Chance of rain.

Music: Company of Thieves at Northern Lights
Company of Thieves has been here a few time over the last couple of years. You might remember them from LarkFest 2009. They released a new album last month. It's gotten pretty good reviews. With Eytan and The Embassy, The Hounds Below, and local Nate Danker. 8 pm - $10 ahead / $12 day of

Music: Sevendys, Sgt Dunbar, and Bryan Thomas at The Linda
Sevendys includes Jed Davis and a "multigenerational Justice League of Rock."

Wednesday

Weather: Sunny and 80.

Music: Elizabeth Cook at The Linda
A country singer with a voice that "sits nicely next to Dolly Parton's and Loretta Lynn's, as does her sense of humor and feminism." Also, apparently it sometimes takes balls to be a woman. 8 pm - $17

Thursday

Weather: Sunny and high 70s.

Music: 10,000 Maniacs at Alive at Five
Natalie Merchant's no longer with the band, but 10,000 Maniacs are still going. The opener is Erin Harkes, who should make sure to check out. 5 pm - free

Music:: Vermont Joy Parade at Valentine's
With Holly & Evan and Dan Johnson and The Expert Sidemen. Should be a rootsy, bluesy time. 8 pm

Theater: Broadcast of Company at Crossgates
The movie theater at Crossgates will be showing a broadcast of the New York Philharmonic's concert production of Stephen Sondheim's Company. The cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Patti LuPone, Christina Hendricks, John Cryer and bunch of others. 7:30 pm - $18

Friday

Weather: Cloudy, highs in the lower 70s.

Comedy: Eddie Griffin at The Palace
8 pm - $35.50 and $45.50

Music: Yarn at Putnam Den
The singer for the alt-country band Yarn is Blake Christiana, a Schenectady native. They have a song about the city. 9 pm - $10

Music: Ska/reggae/gypsy at Valentine's
Skadee, The Wars End, The Steakouts, The Lucky Jukebox Brigade. A night lined up by Swordpaw. 8 pm - $7

Music: Jim Gaudet and the Railroad Boys at Caffe Lena
8 pm - $16 ahead / $18 at the door

Weekend

Weather: Sunnier and warmer.

Festival: The Troy River Street Festival
Food, music, and art on River Street Saturday in downtown Troy. One of our favorite parts of the festival is the street painting competition -- look for Casey's panel. 10 am - 6 pm

Music: Rodeo Barons at Putnam Den
The Rodeo Barons played one of our favorite sets at this year's WEXT benefit show. They're at Putnam Den Saturday night. 9 pm - $7

Holiday: Father's Day is Sunday
If you haven't planned something for your dad, get cracking.
