TMBG's Canajoharie

If we had to pick a town name from the (greater) greater Capital Region that would work as a refrain in a pop song, Canajoharie wouldn't have been at the top of our list. But it works.

They Might Be Giants have a new album coming out next week and it includes a track called, appropriately, Canajoharie. The live performance of the song is embedded above.

We did a little poking around to find out the backstory. The "this might be a wiki" notes that the Johns both have summer houses in the Catskills, which might have something do with it (yep, that's not much). Anyway, Canajoharie is "Where a frog flipper first evolved on the day" -- or so the song goes.

TMBG is playing the Mahawie in Great Barrington September 9. We don't think they have a song about that place. Yet.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
