Shooting on the The Place Beyond the Pines reportedly started today around Schenectady... somewhere. The Biz Review reports the film will be "robbing" the First National Bank of Scotia on Wednesday. Update: The TU reports the shooting has been pushed to Friday. Earlier: Scouting the places beyond the pines

This makes me smile - I always get picked on about my bank choice... but see here all you 1st National Bank of Scotia haters: I may not be able to get money out of the ATM after 5:00 because it is located inside the lobby, but I don't see Ryan Gosling in your branch!!

What a sad case. It's very difficult to find a developer with the resources, vision, and commitment to take on a costly and risky project like St. Joe's. It's a shame that the hidebound conservatism of the neighborhood stymied the first and only realistic, pragmatic, and frankly very cool, project to come along in many years. I hope the church and the neighborhood gets one more shot, although I'm not optimistic.
