A few of the acts at this year's Larkfest: Mike Doughty, Diego Garcia, We are Jeneric.

Here are a few things to keep in mind, look ahead to, or keep busy with this week -- from the weather (sunny then cool), public art, LarkFest, storytelling, pickling, electronic music...

Weather

Here's the paraphrased forecast:

Monday: Sunny. Highs in the upper 70s.
Tuesday: Sunny and 80.
Wednesday: Sunny, mid-70s. Maybe a shower.
Thursday: Sunny and a lot cooler -- highs in the low 60s.
Friday: Same.
Weekend: Sunny and mid 60s.

Summer to start, fall by the weekend.

Living Walls

The conference/series of events that go along with the Living Walls public art project starts Friday and runs through Sunday. The series includes talks on topics such as sustainable living, neighborhood revitalization, and public art. There are also a bunch of performances lined up. The events are free.

LarkFest

The annual LarkFest is this Saturday on Lark Street (where else?). This year's music lineup is headlined by Mike Doughty. There's a good group of locals, too -- make sure you check out We are Jeneric. And the silent disco will be back. 10 am-5:30 pm - free

Storytelling

The Front Parlor Series is back at the Ale House in Troy this Tuesday. The storytelling night was standing room only last month. It starts at 7:30 pm -- but you get there early to grab a seat (and maybe toss your name in for telling a story).

Hip Girl's Guide to Homemaking

Kate Payne, the author of the Hip Girl's Guide to Homemaking: Decorating, Dining, and the Gratifying Pleasures of Self-Sufficiency-on a Budget, will be at Spoon and Whisk in Clifton Park September 15 for a vegetable pickling and fermenting demonstration, and mini-food swap. She'll also be at the Troy Farmers' Market on Wednesday from 3-6 pm. Both events are presented by the From Scratch Club, which hosted a local event with Payne this past May.

Four Tet and Jon Hopkins

EMPAC has a big double bill of electronic music lined up Thursday: Four Tet and Jon Hopkins. Four Tet (Kieran Hebden) has remixed everyone from Radiohead to Andrew Bird to The xx. Jon Hopkins worked with Brian Eno and as well as collaborating and opening for Coldplay. 8 pm - $18

Thursday: Irene relief benefit at Putnam Den
With: Olivia Quillio, Ben Karis-Nix, Lucky Jukebox Brigade, Wild Adriatic, Pony in the Pancake, and Mr. Owl. 8 pm - $5

Thursday: Bella's Bartok at Valenine's
Hard-to-categorize gypsy rock. With Dry River Caravan. 8 pm

Thursday: MK3 at Red Square
Jazzy funk (or is it funky jazz?). With Oobleck, and Formula 5. 8 pm

Friday: OUTPOST1 at Fuze Box
Deep Children, Party with Tina, Knomad, as part of a birthday party for KAB. 10 pm - free before midnight for 21+, $10 for under 21)

Friday: Blink 182 at SPAC
With: My Chemical Romance, Matt and Kim. 7 pm - $25 and up

Friday: Deni Bonet at Caffe Lena
Apparently she plays her violin the way some people play air guitar. 8 pm - $16 ahead / $18 at door

Saturday: college a capella at Universal Preservation Hall
The Colgate Thirteen, and Skidmore and Waldorf, in a benefit for UPH and Caffe Lena. 2 pm - $15 ahead / $20 at the door / $25 for couple / $30 for a family

Saturday: LarkFest after party at Valentine's
With: Charlie Watts Riots and Super 400. 6 pm

Saturday: Albany Symphony Orchestra at The Palace
For the opening night of the season, the ASO will be performing Holst's "The Planets," as well as two other works. 7:30 pm - $19 and up

Saturday: Roots Music Festival at The Linda
With: The Red Haired Strangers, Jim Gaudet and the Railroad Boys, Dan Johnson and the Expert Sidemen, Holly and Evan, and others. 7 pm - $15
