Nog consensus?

egg nog lineup thumbnailIt's been a few years since we did our taste test of locally-available eggnogs. Today we came across Kayla's more recent local taste test, which also included the vaunted Meadowbrook eggnog. The takeaway after looking back on our results, and the results from her taste test: it's hard to go wrong with Stewart's.

If a mention on All Over Albany isn't a reason to re-kickstart my blog, I'm not sure what is.

Thank you AOA team!

And yes, Stewart's 'nog is delicious.

Ronnybrook Dairy got voted #1 on the HuffPost, it is out of Ancramdale.

Tasting nog without rum seems a bit silly, does it not?

How about a best rum and nog combo?

and some fresh grated nutmeg?

Battenkill Valley Creamery (which I've seen available at the Troy Farmers Market and The Meat House) makes an absolutely delicious egg nog. It also comes in the fancy, old-fashioned glass milk bottles, so there's even that extra little bit of authenticity and nostalgia with it.

And even though I enjoy the Stewarts 'Nog, It's really just a December only thing for me.

I love the Stewart's egg nog and let me tell you, I was THRILLED to see that they sell it in those little "refresher" bottles all year long. Christmas in July!

Ronnybrook is great stuff too, but much fancier. I'm happy with my corner-store goodness and its contribution to Better Living Through Chemistry.

I have to second DerryX on the vote for Battenkill Creamery's egg nog. So delicious! They also sell at the Schenectady greenmarket.

I will have to try the Battenkill Creamery one! I am actually originally from Greenwich so I'm a little disappointed in myself for not being aware of it sooner. Maybe someday if I do another taste test it can be added into the mix.

"Code Monkey"- part of the grading for our blog taste test included a round of "when spiked." Gotta have the rum factored in somewhere! :)

Kayla, if you're looking for volunteers for the next taste testing, I'm not difficult to find. :)

Don't forget Silk Nog, the light delicious animal-friendly alternative! :-)

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
