Albany parking permits and not-for-profits

albany parking permit system signBusinesses in Albany's new residential parking permit zones have the opportunity to buy three parking passes, but what about not-for-profits? Someone asked us this question recently, so we checked with Albany city clerk Nala Woodard. His answer: not-for-profit organizations in the zones will be treated just like businesses -- they can apply for three parking permits for their employees, regardless of whether those orgs have their own off-street parking. I think for me and many in the community, there is a desire to go back to this point in time, were neighborhoods were rounder, more complete and effervescent, and not so square that they can't take any unique pegs coming its way. There is a lot of energy in this neighborhood, and potential, not unlike other industrial zones in other cities, that have scene remarkable change towards diverse economies.
