The timing on this is so weird. Just this morning my husband and I were discussing state birds and state flowers while walking the dogs. Hadn't thought about the topic in years. If I recall correctly, in the first grade I thought we voted on the state animal, bird or flower in Illinois. Of course, I'm from one of those boring cardinal states.
