Cloud Nothings are at The Low Beat Saturday night for the WCDB 36th Anniversary Show, which spans two venues -- both the Low Beat and Pauly's next door. Also Saturday night: the Roots Music Festival at The Linda, which is right across Quail Street.

Well, hello spring!

We're going to flirt with the 60 degree mark this weekend, and even see the sun.

1st Friday
It's 1st Friday in Albany tonight. On the list of things you may want to check out:

+ Albany Barn presents "Entropy" at Stage 1 -- a display of paintings by local artist, Sarah Holub Schrom.
+ Illustrator Elizabeth Zunon will be at the African American Cultural Center of the Capital Region for the opening reception of an exhibit of her paintings and illustrations.
+ Iron Gate Cafe has music and a wine tasting.
+ Fuzz Record Shop is hosting a Secret Show.
Hudson Disco-Tek hosts a show by "Saucey" Caulf & Rock 'n Lives.
+ Doc Scanlon's Rhythm Boys are headlining this month's Capital Swing Dance.

Tour of the Battenkill Cycling Race
2,5000 cyclists and as many as 50,000 spectators are expected at The Tour of the Battenkill, the largest one-day pro/am cycling race in the country. The race starts in Cambridge and runs through the Battenkill Valley over covered bridges, family farms and rural villages in Washington County. Races, a bike expo, art show and more. events Saturday and Sunday, 8 am to 6 pm

Life in Color
Friday: Life in Color -- "the world's largest paint party" -- is at the TU Center. The event features DJs, aerial acts, and "the ever so famous PAINT BLAST." Friday 8 pm - $49 and up

Championship hoops
Saturday: The Siena men's basketball team will be playing Fresno State for the College Basketball Invitational championship at the ARC on its Loudonville campus. The game is third of a three-game series. The ARC only seats about 3,500 people. Saturday 11:30 am (yep, in the morning) - $36 adults (includes $5 concession voucher and parking) / $8 kids

Reptiles
Saturday: The Capital Region Reptile Expo will be at the TU Center. Among the attractions: Jimmy Riffle from the Animal Planet show Gator Boys will be there to wrestle alligators. Saturday 9:30 am-5 pm - multiple ticket prices for expo and/or gator show

Theater

Gypsy
The Sondheim/Arthur Laurents musical based on the life of Gypsy Rose Lee continues this weekend at Capital Rep (TU review, Nippertown review). The show features Broadway veterans and a number of talented actors from the Capital Region, including Benita Zahn and George Franklin.various times - $20 and up

A Piece of My Heart
The Confetti Stage production of A Piece of My Heart, the story of unsung women who served in Vietnam, closes this weekend. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm, Sunday at 2 pm - $15

Comedy

Theatersports
Friday: The Mop & Bucket Company is back at Proctors Underground on Friday night with a new season of TheaterSports -- in which teams of improvisors compete based on audience suggestions. (Think Whose Line is it Anyway?) Friday at 8pm - $14 / $6 students and seniors.

Film

"Phone home"
E.T. is at The Madison this weekend. They're also screening Monsters vs. Aliens and Prometheus.

Doing the Time Warp
The Insomnia Theater feature at the Saratoga Bow Tie this Friday and Saturday at 11:30 pm is The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The Docks of New York
Friday: The NYS Writers Institute Classic Film Series is screening The Docks of New York, a 1928 silent with live music with live musical accompaniment. 7:30 pm, UAlbany downtown campus, Page Hall - free

East of Eden
Movies & Mimosa at The Bow Tie Cinema have become Cine Classics, but you can still get your mimosa before the show. This week they're screening the classic James Dean film, East of Eden on Saturday and Sunday at 11 am.

Life Feels Good
The Saratoga Film Forum is screening Life Feels Good, the Polish film that swept the Montréal Film Festival last year. It centers on a man who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in his childhood and his efforts to communicate to the world that he is an intelligent, sentient human being. Friday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3 pm

Kundun
The Saratoga Film Forum & Skidmore College are hosting a "Town and Gown" movie night with a screening of Martin Scorsese's Kundun, the story of the 14th Dalai Lama. Sunday 7:30 pm

Saratoga Tattoo Expo
The annual Saratoga Tattoo Expo is at the Saratoga City Center this weekend with artists, vendors, entertainers, and tattooing. $10 day pass or $25 weekend pass

Easter Egg Exhibit
More than 5,000 elaborately hand-decorated Easter Eggs will be exhibited this weekend in Schoharie to benefit the rebuilding of the Schoharie Free Library from damage done by Hurricane Irene. (It's also open the next two weekends) Friday through Sunday 10 am to 5 pm - $10 family, $5 individual

Saratoga Baby Expo
The Saratoga Independent School is hosting its annual Baby Expo with vendors and exhibitors from businesses throughout the Capital Region. Saturday from 10am to 2pm - free admission

Downtown Albany restaurant week
Downtown Albany restaurant week continues this weekend -- it runs through April 11. Seventeen downtown restaurants will be offering special three-course menus during that span. Restaurant week tends to be popular, so reservations are a good idea.

Ice Cream
An easy way to make it feel more like spring: take your umbrella and head to one of the seasonal ice cream stands. Here's the updated list of what's open.

Farmers' markets
Indoor markets are open in Troy (Saturday at the Atrium), Saratoga (Saturday at the Lincoln Baths in Spa State Park), Schenectady (Sunday at Proctors), and the Spa City Farmers Market -- at the Lincoln Baths in Saratoga Springs (Sunday at the Lincoln Baths).

Troy Music Hall, miSci, Saint Rose, Capital Rep, MopCo, and the Downtown Albany BID advertise on AOA.
