New owners for Coulson's
Coulson's -- the downtown Albany news stand that's been in business for more than a century (streetview) -- has been sold, the Biz Review's Mike DeMasi reports. The new owner's planning a makeover and a change-up of the product selection -- but the name is staying, as is the wide selection of newspapers and magazines. [Biz Review]
Earlier: A few years back with the talked with Steve Hutchins, whose family has owned Coulson's for generations, about being a lucky location for lottery tickets.

PLEASE, PLEASE do not stop selling the magazines and sell nothing but soap, cigarettes and lotto tickets. In an age of impersonal electronic media I LOVE walking thru the racks of mags and reading them and YES buying them to read at home at my leisure. In any other town Coulson's would be standing room only, here it's a neglected place to buy lottery tickets! So glad it will remain and improve!

Everyone knows that Coulson's is a thinly-disguised front business for the international superhero support team known as S.H.I.E.L.D.

I second the magazine selection. I've always loved and appreciated how Coulson's has the best periodical selection around....and last I checked, it was the only place downtown where you could find "the New Yorker."
