10x10: Casinos, John Oliver, new spots

The Beer Belly.

A while back we did a thing where wrote 10 reviews/comments in no more than 10 words each. People seemed to like it, and it was kind of fun way to concentrate some thoughts.

So, here's another batch...

Rules of the game: Statements in no more than 10 words. Name of the place/thing doesn't count. Contractions are allowed. Punctuation is free.

Casino skepticism: Creating economic activity not the same as creating economic development.

ZEN building: Shaping up to be an impressively modern... office building.

John Oliver at The Palace: Hope he took trip to see Nipper. Via jet ski.

The Beer Belly in Albany: New, but feels like it's been there a while. Cozy!

City Line Bar & Grill: Better as a bar (with snacks) than as a restaurant.

Roux in Slingerlands: Interesting menus ideas. Execution sorely lacking. Maybe needs time.

The Standard's veggie burger: "Meaty" without imitating meat. Grilled onions, garlic sauce key.

Early grade for this winter: Wet snow, unevenly applied. Still no pond skating. Needs improvement.

Hat hair: Better than your ears freezing off. Embrace it.

Otto's Christmas decorating help: Good company. But not a lot of help.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
