"He made friends wherever he went"

draven rodriguez Draven Rodriguez -- the Schenectady High School senior who made so many people smile with his laser cat yearbook photo last year -- died last week. His parents tell the Times Union it was suicide -- the article also includes many memories of the impact Rodriguez had on the people around him and the joy he brought them.

I am deeply saddened by this young man's death. We are failing our young people (and our soldiers and our mentally ill and so many others). I loved his story and how he seemed so comfortable with who he was. Obviously there were unseen problems. No one will ever know why he did it. I hope he was not bullied. I have tremendous sympathy and empathy for his family and friends.
