Annie Hall
Monday: The AFI 100 series at Proctors is screening Annie Hall, Woody's Allen's influential romantic comedy. Monday various times - $5

Bond
Monday: The Palace's movie series is showing From Russia With Love, which has Sean Connery in the role of James Bond. Monday 7 pm - $5

Roar
Wednesday: The Spectrum is showing the 1981 thriller Roar, which is now known for being, um, a not successful movie with a colorful making-of story. Blurbage: "No animals were harmed in the making of this movie. 70 members of the cast and crew were." The movie stars Noel Marshall, Tippie Hedren (who was Marshall's wife), Melanie Griffith (who, by the way, is Hedren's daughter), and John and Jerry Marshall (Marshall's sons). John Marshall will appear via Skype for a Q&A following the screening. Wednesday 6:30 pm - $10.25

Tuesday: The Front Parlor storytelling series returns to The Ale House in Troy. This month's them is "revolution(s)." Tuesday 7:30 pm

Cooking

Stir fry
Tuesday: Chinese food expert and cookbook author Helen Chen will be at Different Drummer's Kitchen for a hands-on class about stir fry -- Mandarin Orange Shrimp with Snow Peas, Chicken with Cashew Nuts, Steamed Salmon Fillet with Asparagus, Pork Lo Mein with Shredded Vegetables. Tuesday 6 pm - $69

Pizza
Wednesday: Gio Culinary Studio has a hands-on class about making Neapolitan-style pizza. "The Pizza Crust, Fresh Mozzarella, Puff Pastry and "Pizza Sauce" will all be made by hand using traditional and professional techniques that are easily duplicated at home." Wednesday 6:15 pm - $60

Seitan 101
Thursday: Jenn Adams is leading a class at Honest Weight about using seitan, AKA, "wheat meat." Thursday 6 pm - free (registration required)

History

Heaven on Earth
Wednesday: The Shaker Heritage Society in Colonie is offering a guided walking tour focused on architecture. Blurbage:

Among other things, the Shakers were known for their planned communities and simple, yet beautiful, architecture. They strove to create a "heaven on earth," constructing a physical example of some of their deep-seated values - simplicity, uniformity, perfection. As a result, a distinctly "Shaker style" emerged. Explore Shaker building practices and the evolution of the Watervliet community on this guided walking tour, which includes access to three buildings generally closed to the public.

History happy hour
Thursday: The Albany Institute of History and Art is hosting the first History Happy Hour. Blurbage: "Network and mingle with other like-minded history and museum-buffs, enjoy selections of local beer, wine, and delicious hors d'oeuvres. This is also your chance to experience and explore the Albany Institute's galleries after hours." Thursday 5:30 pm - $20 ahead / $25 at door

Hamlet extended

Friday/Saturday: Capital Rep's new production of Hamlet continues this weekend. Public performances have been added on Friday and Saturday. The TU calls the production "Vivid, brisk, emotionally resonant and achingly tragic." Friday-Saturday various times - $20 and up

American Music Festival

Thursday-Saturday: The Albany Symphony Orchestra's American Music Festival returns with a string of events and performances at EMPAC. The capstone concert is Saturday's concert, blurbage: "This 'Migrations' program focuses on the traditions surrounding American History and features Michael Daugherty's Trail Of Tears Concerto with Amy Porter on flute, world premieres from Composer Educator Clint Needham and Andrea Reinkemeyer, and Derek Bermel's Migration Series for Jazz Orchestra." Thursday-Saturday various times - various prices
