A history in plastics

The popular podcast 99 Percent Invisible recently cued up some historical context for John Wesley Hyatt's early work on the first plastics in Albany, which Carl wrote about a few years back in highlighting the history of the Hyatt Billiard Ball Company and the historical marker at Delaware and Whitehall. We gotta say, though, that 99 story underplays the longterm success of the company Hyatt started -- it was in operation (under different ownership) all the way through the 1980s, with a factory that long stood on Delaware Ave.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
