Capital Region ice skating spots 2016

ice skaters on Buckingham Pond

Buckingham Pond is always a popular spot on the weekends when the ice is in shape.

The last few weeks have been good outdoor skating weather -- cold nights, some sun during the day, and very little snow. So ponds and other outdoor skating spots should be shaping up with the season. (Though you'll probably have to hold off for a few warms days this week.)

There are a bunch of spots around the Capital Region for ice skating, both outside and inside. AOA has a listing/map of more than 20 places and it's now updated for the current winter -- so go have a look.

Skating is either free or cheap at a lot of these places. And it's a fun reason to get out of the house.

If you know of a place that should be on the list, please let us know in the comments.

It's pretty far out but Hoosick Falls has a covered skating rink with free skating on Mondays. http://www.hoosickrecreation.com/

The Scoop
