Dyngus Day celebrations
This Monday is Dyngus Day, a traditional day-after-Easter celebration in many Eastern European cultures, as well as cities here in the United States (such as Buffalo) with large populations of people who hail from those cultures.
A few Dyngus Day events lined up in the Capital Region:
The Hill at Muza
Maybe you've seen that Muza in Troy -- which specializes in Polish comfort food such as peirogi and golombki -- now has a bar and beer garden called The Hill at Muza (above). It's hosting a Dyngus Day celebration Monday:
This "Polish St. Patrick's Day" is a post-Lenten bash you're sure to enjoy, dedicated to celebrating Polish history like none other! Celebrate at Muza and The Hill at Muza with live music (a polka band and DJ!), Eastern European beers, handmade Polish food all day, and more! The beer garden will be the main stage, and the restaurant will be transformed into a beer hall with a set Dyngus Day Menu - pierogi, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and more! Everybody is Polish on Dyngus Day!
Them music starts at noon with a polka ensemble, and the party lasts until 10 pm. Also: "In addition to food, music, polka dancing and drink, the festivities include a few quirky romantic traditions, such as sprinkling water on a love interest or lightly tapping your crush with a pussy willow branch."
Polish Community Center
The Polish Community Center on Washington Ave Extension in Albany is hosting a Dyngus Polka celebration Monday from 1-8 pm with a live band There will be Polish-American food available and a cash bar. Admission is $12.
Dyngus Day Rotterdam
It looks like the annual Dyngus Day celebration in Rotterdam is not on for this year because of venue scheduling problem. (The organizers say in that Facebook post they'll be at Muza this year.)

Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
