Big and small

Little Free Library State Street church

This makes us smile: The way the Little Free Library on State Street in Albany near Swan Street is built like a replica of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, next to which it stands.

Here's a map of other Little Free Libraries -- there are a handful around this area.

These things are so cool, but this one has always been my favorite, for this very reason. I keep limited space for books in my apartment, and clear out those I won't read again or give to a friend by dropping them here.

I'd also like to give thanks to the collections of free things, usually including books, that appear on stoops throughout the neighborhood in the summer.

This reminds me that when I was a kid my father built me a doll house that was an exact replica of our house (1950s ranch). Wish I still had it and it would make a great "little library."

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
