Pearlpalooza
Saturday: Pearlpalooza -- the annual day of music on Pearl Street in downtown Albany organized by WEQX -- returns. This year's headliner is Galactic. Warpaint, Maybird, Bassh, The Greeting Committee, and Rechorduroys fill out the lineup. (Here are samples of each act.) Saturday 1-8 pm -- free admission

Basilica Soundscape
Friday-Sunday: Basilica Hudson again hosts Basilica Soundscape, with music and art Friday and Saturday, and a brunch and marketplace on Sunday. This year's headliner is Explosions in the Sky. Friday-Sunday various times -- $40 day music pass / $75 weekend pass

Fresh Grass
Friday-Sunday: The alt-country/folk/bluegrass festival Fresh Grass is back at MASS MoCA. This year's headliners include Old Crow Medicine Show, Glen Hansard, Ricky Skaggs, The Devil Makes Three, and Rosanne Cash. Friday-Sunday various times -- adults day passes $39 and up /adult festival passes $99

Capital Region Apple & Wine Festival
Saturday-Sunday: The Altamont Fairgrounds hosts the annual Capital Region Apple & Wine Festival with live music, wine tasting, a car show, cooking demonstrations, vendors, and more. Saturday 10 am-6 pm / Sunday 10 am-5 pm -- $8 / children under 15 free

Henry Street Harvest Festival
Sunday: The annual Henry Street Harvest Festival returns in Saratoga Springs. Music, pumpkin painting, food, a dunk tank and family friendly fun. brings together local businesses in order to raise funds for Gateway House. Sunday noon-4 pm -- free admission

Upper Madison Street Fair
Sunday: The annual Upper Madison Street Fair is this weekend in Albany with a variety of vendors, food, a silent auction, used book sale, live performances, and more. Sunday noon-5 pm -- free admission

Sharon Springs Harvest Festival
Saturday-Sunday: The Sharon Springs Harvest Festival returns to the Schoharie County village. The Beekman Boys will have a book signing at their retail store, and they'll hold tours of their farm (tours are $25), there will be an Easy Makers Village, screenings of Miss Sharon Jones (a documentary about Sharon Jones), a tractor parade, and more. Saturday starting at 10 am / Sunday starting at 11 am -- free admission

Clifton Park Farm Fest
Saturday: Clifton Park Farm Fest returns to celebrate local farming with tours, hayrides, apple picking, live music, horse rides, and more. Participating farms include Bowman Orchards, Riverview Orchards, Predel's Ranch, Double B Farms, and Shepherd's Hey Farm. Saturday 10 am-5 pm -- free admission

Troy Restaurant and Craft Beer Week
Friday-Sunday: Troy Restaurant and Craft Beer Week continues through Sunday. Restaurants around downtown Troy will be offering specials and there will be beer-focused events at many places.

America on Tap: Troy
Saturday: Troy on Tap will have more than 100 craft beers produced across the country to sample at the Sage Colleges Athletic Field on the Troy campus. There will also be live music, food for sale, vendors, and more. Saturday 1-5 pm -- $35 advance / $45 at the door (VIP package: $55 advance / $65 at the door)

Mississippi Day Albany
Saturday: Albany's Lincoln Park hosts the 5th annual Mississippi Day celebration, commemorating the move of many African Americans to Albany from Mississippi during the Great Meigration. The day starts with a parade, and will include speakers, music, and Mississippi-themed food. Saturday starting at 11 am -- free

Rensselaerville Ride
Friday-Sunday: The Rensselaerville Ride is a three-day cycling event featuring cycling rides, kids events, food, music, hard cider, beer and more. The cycling events are through the Helderberg hill towns and northern Catskills, in a variety of lengths and degrees of difficulty. Saturday night there's an event at the Helderberg Brewery at the Carey Institute with food from Slidin' Dirty. Here's the full schedule. Friday-Sunday various times and prices

Saratoga Showcase of Homes
Friday-Sunday: This is the first of three weekends of the Saratoga Showcase of Homes -- a self-guided tour through show homes in Saratoga County. For the opening Friday local chefs will offer a tasting at six homes with a craft beer or wine pairing (tasting tickets are limited and are $25). Saturday and Sunday tours are offered from 11 am to 5 pm -- $20

Time Stands Still
Friday-Sunday: Curtain Call Theater opens Time Stands Still, Donald Margulies's play about a photojournalist who comes home from Iraq torn between her career and a quiet domestic life. Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, Sunday at 3 pm -- $24

The Best Man
Friday-Sunday: Albany Civic's production of the political drama The Best Man closes this weekend. Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday 3 pm -- $18

The Midtown Men
Friday: The Midtown Men -- four actors who shared the stage as The Jersey Boys -- regroup at Proctors to sing some of their favorite hits of the 60s. Friday 8 pm -- $20 and up

Jim Breuer
Friday: Actor, author and comedian Jim Breuer brings his stand up act to the Troy Music Hall. 8 pm -- $27

Nick Griffin
Friday-Sunday: Comedy Central's Nick Griffin will be at the Funny Bone in Crossgates. Friday-Sunday various times - $10-$12

Kevin Meaney
Friday-Saturday: Actor/Comedian Kevin Meaney brings his stand-up act to The Comedy Works in Saratoga Springs. Friday 8 pm / Saturday 7:30 pm and 9:30 - $20 advance / $25 at the door / dinner package $45 advance / $50 at the door

Film

Chimes at Midnight
Friday: The NYS Writers Institute's Classic Film Series opens its season with the 1965 Orson Welles film Chimes at Midnight. "Chimes at Midnight is comprised of material from five Shakespeare plays to tell the story of the Bard's recurring character Sir John Falstaff. Welles, who had a lifelong fascination with the comic figure, plays Falstaff in 'the greatest role of his career, in which he gives his greatest performance.'" Friday 7:30pm in Page Hall on UAlbany's downtown campus -- free

Friday-Sunday: The Madison Theater is screening The Big Lebowski this weekend. Friday-Sunday, various times -- $5

Singing in the Rain
Friday-Sunday: Also screening at The Madison this weekend, the Gene Kelley classic Singin' in the Rain. Friday-Sunday, various times -- $5

Movies Under The Stars: Zootopia
Friday: The Christ's Church Albany, The Helderberg Neighborhood Association, and The Pine Hills Neighborhood Association will be holding an outdoor showing of Zootopia at the Sage Albany campus. There will be free popcorn and drinks available. Friday 8:30 pm (activities start at 7:30 pm) -- free admission

Saratoga Springs International Film Festival
Saturday: The inaugural Saratoga Springs International Film Festival will feature local, national, and international short films from student, amateur, and professional film makers. There will be a variety of events, panels, and workshops at participating venues such as the Saratoga Springs City Center, Bow-Tie Cinema, and Skidmore College. Saturday 10 am-11 pm -- $8-$10

The Beatles: Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years
Sunday: Proctors is screening the documentary Eight Days A Week -- The Touring Years, Ron Howard's documentary of the touring life of The Beatles from 1962 to 1966. Interviews with members of the band and fans are included as well as clips of rare live performances. Sunday 6 pm -- $5

Globe on Screen: Richard II
Sunday: The Spectrum will screen the 2008 Globe Theater production of Shakespeare's Richard II at the Globe Theatre. Sunday 11 am -- $15

Profiles of historic African-Americans in Schenectady
Saturday: The Schenectady County Historical Society presents a living history program with guided tours of the Stockade and a performance by the Underground Railroad History Project featuring the stories of historic African Americans in Schenectady. Saturday 1-3 pm -- $5

Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall
Friday-Sunday: A replica on Vietnam Memorial wall in Washington, D.C. will be on display this weekend on the east side of Washington Park in Albany. Friday-Sunday -- free admission

Museums/galleries

Hudson Valley Ruins
Recently opened at the State Museum: Hudson Valley Ruins. It includes more than 80 photographs by Robert Yasinsac and Thomas Rinaldi of "forgotten historic sites and cultural treasures in the Hudson River Valley." It will be on display through the end of 2017.

Splendor, Myth, and Vision
Still on display at The Clark: Splendor, Myth, and Vision: Nudes from the Prado. Blurbage: "The exhibition explores the role of the nude in European painting in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and the collecting and display practices of the Spanish royalty. Twenty-four of the paintings have never before been shown in America." It's on display through October 10.

Alexander Hamilton
The Albany Institute of History and Art exhibit on the life of Alexander Hamilton and his time in Albany continues. Hamilton, who has experienced a resurgence in popularity due to Lin Manuel Miranda's award-winning musical based on his life, married Elizabeth Schuyler at the Schuyler Mansion in Albany and visited the city often after that. The exhibit highlights objects related to Hamilton, including a portrait from the permanent collection of Union College. (On display through December 31.)

A More Perfect Union
The Tang presents: A More Perfect Union -- a new exhibit featuring Mel Ziegler's Multi-Year Project Flag Exchange. The installation includes 50 American flags collected by Ziegler, who traveled the country trading new flags for tattered ones flying at homes and public locations. (Runs through January.) free admission (suggested donations of $2 - $5)

Ansel Adams
This is the last weekend for the Fenimore Art Museum's exhibit of early works by Ansel Adams.

Circus
The Arkell Museum has an exhibit of circus-themed art and vintage circus marketing materials. On display through October 16.

Tiffany windows, waterfalls and a 100 mile view
Saturday: Oakwood Cemetery in Troy is offering a tour that includes stops at Earl Chapel's Tiffany Windows, Uncle Sam's grave, and other sights within the cemetery. Saturday, 1:30pm to 4:30pm -- $15.00

Sculpture parks
Maybe you'd like to explore some sculpture parks around the region.

Head of the Hudson Regatta
Sunday: The Albany Rowing Center is inviting the public to the 30th annual Head of the Hudson Regatta on the Albany riverfront. Sunday 8 am to 1pm -- free

Duck Derby
Saturday: Sponsor-A-Scholar will hold a Duck Derby in Albany's Washington Park. Adopt a rubber duck and watch them race on Washington Park Lake. One lucky entry could win $1,500. Saturday at 10am (race starts at 11:15) -- duck adoption starts at $5

Swimming
Saturday-Sunday: There's still time for a dip at the Victoria Pool in Saratoga Spa State Park. The pool has extended its season through Sunday. Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 6pm -- $8, $4 seniors and kids under 11, kids under 5 swim free.

Day trips
Explore some waterfalls, head for The Berkshires, The Catskills, or Columbia County. Or check out a state park.

Farmers' markets
This is a great time of year to visit the farmers markets in the Capital Region.
+ Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is in Riverfront Park for the rest of the summer because of the planned construction on River Street. Saturday 9 am-2 pm
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market is outdoors at High Rock Park. Saturday from 9 am-1 pm
+ The Delmar Farmers Market is at Bethlehem Central Middle School. Saturday 9 am-1 pm
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket is at its outdoor location around City Hall. Sunday from 10 am-2 pm.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market is outdoors to the lawn at the Lincoln Baths. Sunday from 10 am-3 pm
