"We're a very warm community"
Utica has a large immigrant population -- more than 18 percent of residents. North Country Public Radio's Brian Mann went to Utica to hear about how people there are reacting (or not) to the presidential election and the upcoming Trump presidency. Utica mayor Robert Palmieri: "What happens throughout the country, I can't control ... We certainly can control what happens in Utica New York. I don't think you'll see anything differently that where we are at this point. We're a very warm community." [NCPR]

Two lawsuits were filed by private groups (including the NYCLU) and New York State against the Utica school district for steering immigrants to substandard programs instead of regular high school. These were settled in May and July 2016, respectively. See:
