Jimmer, the "Loneliness Master"

Jimmermania lives -- in China. Jimmer Fredette now plays for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association and is leading the league in scoring at 37 points per game on 49 percent shooting (41 from three) and 93 percent(!) from the free throw line. He also been nicknamed "Loneliness Master." [NY Post]

Meanwhile, the best bicycle racer in the U.S. this year is a female cyclist from Glens Falls named Megan Guarnier, who gets not an inch of press from the local papers or TV outlets. If she were the best male in any sport, I can't help but feel it would be different.

Lets be fair, Carl. "Best of the year" doesn't say much when it's only mid-January. What's more, the first major cycling event on the international racing calendar just started two days ago (and isn't over yet). And lastly, she is not the best bicycle racer in the U.S.

Best of 2016. Forgive me. She won the women's UCI pro tour. There wasn't an American male in the top 20 of the men's. So she was the highest ranked bicycle racer from the U.S. in international competition. Point being, the local media cover Fredette's every bowel movement, and cover Guarnier not at all.
