Santa Speedo Sprint 2017 registration open

This year's Albany Santa Speedo Sprint is December 16. And registration is open, which means you still have a few weeks to collect pledges and plan your costume. The registration fee is $25.

The sprint is what is sounds like: a bunch of people in holiday-themed underthings running/walking 800 meters down Lark Street an back for charity. (That first link above includes a short FAQ.)

The event is organized by the Albany Society for the Advancement of Philanthropy, with the Albany All-Star Roller Derby, and is a fundraiser for the Albany Damien Center and the HIV/AIDS program at the Albany Medical Center. This is the 12th year for the sprint, and it's raised more than $125,000 over the years. It's a fun event -- a bunch of smiles and a lot of cheering.
