Owney -- the Albany dog who rode mail trains around the country -- is one of our favorite local history stories. (Like, how could it not be?). It turns out there was another Albany celebrity dog who also rode trains in the late 19th century: Railroad Jack. And there's a historian working on his story. [TU]

This was a great story. I love imagining this well-known dog just traveling the rails, heading to NYC and back whenever he felt like it. Did he really just not have owners and people just recognized him and looked after him wherever he went? Who knows much of it is true, but it's fun to imagine.
