Blue islands
This new New York Times map of 2016 presidential election results from around the country is remarkably detailed, showing results at the local election district level. Looking at Upstate New York, the picture isn't really all that surprising, but it is stark how the election here mostly shook out between urban and rural areas. (Interestingly, that wasn't necessarily the case across the border in Massachusetts and Vermont and other parts of New England.)
