Does Tom Mailey get free ice cream?

Is this the face of a man who got a free ice cream cone?

So last week we told you that the overwhelming demand for free St. Patrick's Day ice cream cones in 2008 caused Stewart's to change their famous Paddy's Day promotion. This year, if you came to any Stewart's wearing green on St. Patrick's Day, you could get a cone for 50 cents.

Upon hearing the news Jeff told us he was pretty sure Tom Mailey would be getting a free cone. Mailey is the former WRGB personality and current Stewart's spokesman and marketing manager.

Was Jeff right?

(buzzer)

Oooooh. No, Jeff. But thank you for playing.

We dropped in on Mailey at Stewart's Central this afternoon. Turns out he did visit a Stewart's shop with his kids on St. Patrick's Day -- and paid for his cones.

Mailey, who is a great sport and a really nice guy, did say that as a Stewart's employee he does sometimes get free milk and ice cream -- a nice little job perk, and helpful for making friends.

Oh, and Tom, if you're in the market for new friends, we're partial to Peanut Butter Pandemonium.
