Stuff to do this weekend

Tug Trilogy

Tugboats! This weekend in Waterford.

Well, as Annie Lennox once said, "Here comes the rain again."

After a gorgeous week, things are going to be a little damp for the first part of the weekend. Sunday looks good though, and there's a ton of stuff to do both inside and outside this weekend.

Here's our list of things that sound like fun. Mix 'em, match 'em and create your weekend.

As always, if you've got something in mind that we missed, pass it on.

And have fun!

Tugboats
The Waterford Tugboat Round-up starts today at 11. The tugs are really fun to see. They're heading to Albany today at 11 and parading up to Watervliet at 2. Then they'll be anchored there for a weekend long festival that's definitely worth checking out. Last year we even got a tour of one..

Take a walk
Sure, the colors haven't turned yet, and technically it's not Autumn, but it just seems like the right time to take an "autumn walk." Here are some of our favorite spots.

Comments

There's a plethora of things going on in Schenectady this weekend, too. There's the Stockade Walkabout, the Italian street festival and the Greek Festival.

Also, say cheese! http://www.washingtoncountycheese.com/tour.html

There is a 'Walk for Autism' at Congress Park in Saratoga this Sunday. Registration is at 9am and the walk begins at 10am.

Nipper's will be at the Tug Boat roundup in Waterford saturday Sept 12 & Sunday 13.
Up the hill next to the lock..see all you Nipperette's there!

Technically, Oktoberfest celebrations always begin in September

Citing your own concert recommendation.

Joshua Radin and Gary Joules
where: The Linda
when: September 11
how much: $17
why: We gotta admit that we're not a huge fan of Radin. Lucky for him, Zach Braff is -- and that's helped Radin get played on pretty much every TV show during the last year. Jules is the one we'd really like to hear at this show. His cover of Tears for Fears "Mad World" on the Donnie Darko soundtrack is a classic -- it was good enough to win good enough to almost win American Idol for Adam Lambert.

There is also the Crailo Harvest Faire, which promises loads of "edutainment" for all.

There is also a medieval festival at Potter's Tavern on Rt 7 just outside of Troy.

If you want to dance but don't necessarily know how or have a partner, come to a contra dance with live music! There are two this weekend - at the Hibernian Hall in Albany tonight and Burhmaster Barn in Loudonville Sunday evening. No partner necessary, all ages and beginners always welcome and the dances are all "walked through" and called so you are told what to do. It's great form of social interaction and exercise - the sweatiest fun you can have with your clothes on - and a terrific, friendly community of people. Not sure what contra is? Youtube has many videos including this one of a local dance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToneOybsVsM Details and directions at www.danceflurry.org

the drive-ins finally get less than horrendous movies - and it's the final weekend - and it's raining and shitty out. nice.

Classic Cars week in Lake George, lots of Hot Rods.

Don't forget that it's Heritage Weekend as well.

There's a big craft festival over at Hudson Valley today and tomorrow. $5 to get in.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
