A quick recap of the week

week review 2010-09-11

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ It's wallpaper inspired by Albany's Center Square neighborhood.

+ Romeo the Peacock still runs free in Schenectady.

+ The people at the Troy Bike Rescue built a tall bike called "the camel."

+ Call it a comeback -- a few local favorites have been reborn.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: longshots, old stuff, fairs, the Schuyler Mansion, the drive-in, Bolton Landing, cider donuts, smoked pork, super awesome grapes, old clothes, bias incidents, and signs of fall.

+ A big purple bookmobile could be yours for the low, low price of $10,000.

+ Sebastien sent along a really great composite shot of the Ferris wheel at the Schaghticoke Fair. You really should have a look.

+ A few of the items found on Craiglist this week: a revelation in Staples, an attractive woman named Matt, and a rather odd massage.

+ A local photographer put together a cool time lapse video of places around Albany.

+ The story behind Sam Wilson, Troy icon and the inspiration for Uncle Sam.

+ Holey car, Batman!

+ And we'll post results from the Tournament of Pizza entry voting next week! Here's what the leaderboard looked like on Thursday.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or sent along an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
