Ric Orlando goes for $50k on Chopped

ric orlando chopped championsLocal chef Ric Orlando (New World Home Cooking, New World Bistro Bar) will be on the Food Network Tuesday night competing for the championship in the Chopped champions tournament. From the episode blurb:

Ready for anything, the chefs open the appetizer baskets to find an over-sized sea creature and a scoop-shop treat. Then a wild combination in the entrée basket makes an extremely intense round even more outrageously difficult. And when the two remaining champions find champagne in the mystery basket, just whose victory the judges will be toasting is the $50,000 question.

Yep, the winner gets $50,000.

Ric has done really well in this competition, cruising through his first appearance -- and coming back from the "Chopped Shakespearean tragedy, act 1" in the semi-final. But he's up against some serious competition in this round. Watch out for Madison Cowan, who was recently on The Today Show.

The ep first airs at 10 pm. The four semi-final episodes are being shown in a marathon starting at 6 pm.

Yep, New World Bistro Bar has advertised on AOA in the past.

My wife and I went to New World Home Cooking after a long, hectic day (selling garlic) at the garlic festival on Saturday. The only thing better than eating amazing food is eating amazing food when you're really, really hungry.

I've tried to describe how good that meal was to a few people, but I become a babbling, incoherent mess.

I feel that a viewing party is called for. For shame on we the local foodie community for not planning out a shindig in advance.

Truly, though, I'm just whining because I don't have cable and I KNOW spoilers will abound. Le sigh.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
