ShopRite Niskayuna opening date

Update: Here's a first look at ShopRite Niskayuna.
____

The new ShopRite in Niskayuna's grand opening is October 2 (that's a Sunday). A PR rep for the supermarket chain says that will also be the first day the store is actually open to the public (openings grand often come later than openings actual -- though not in this case, apparently). The company recently posted photos of the under-construction store. Earlier: About the Niskayuna Co-op and ShopRite

Wish ShopRite would consider Brunswick as a location for a new store. We sure could use some competition for grocery shopping in this area!

I know some people get excited when they hear that some chain from outside the area is coming to the Capital Region, but I'm not one of them. Local businesses mean local dollars; the money stays here rather than going to a corporate headquarters far, far away. If Price Chopper is sold to an outside company - especially a company that answers to its stockholders more than its customers - that could have a huge impact.
