Stuff to do this weekend
The eerily warm winter continues. Things should dry up a bit by Saturday and we're expecting a fair amount of sunshine as well, so you may want to get out and make a little vitamin D.

TNO
It's the first Troy Night Out of 2012. There are art openings, workshops and performances all over the Collar City tonight. Here's the schedule. Don't forget the after-party at Daisy Baker's with DJs and dancing starting at 10.
"Ogres have layers"
The touring company ofShrek the Musical continues its six day run at Proctors with shows tonight at 8, Saturday at 2 and 8 and Sunday at 2. $20 and up
Toxic Avenger
The It Came From Schenectady series at Proctors is showing The Toxic Avenger Friday night. The film's director will also be there. There will also be a bonus screening of the Trey Parker (of South Park fame) film Cannibal the Musical. 7 pm - $9 ($6 students)
Spontaneous Broadway
Tonight is your last chance to catch Mop & Bucket Company's Spontaneous Broadway for a while. The improv company will create a Broadway show on the spot, based on audience sugestions. Underground at Proctors, 8PM $14, $7.
Theater
+ The Sisters Rosensweig opens this weekend at Capital Rep. Tonight at 8, Saturday at 3 and 8, Sunday at 2 and 7. Tickets start at $20.
+ Next Fall continues its run at Curtain Call Theater. Tonight and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 3 pm - $22.
+ Hubbard Hall in Cambridge presents an Edward Albee double feature: The Zoo Story and The Sandbox. Tonight and Saturday at 8 and Sunday at 2. $15, $18, $20.
Exit Dome 5
Saturday is WEXT's Exit Dome 5 show. It's a benefit concert featuring Sgt Dunbar, MaryLeigh & the Fauves, Rosary Beard, The City Never Sleeps, Mother Judge, and M.R. Poulopoulos. 7:30 pm - 2 tickets for a $50 pledge

Former singer for Elefant. Maybe you saw him at this past year's LarkFest. He's rather dreamy, apparently. 8 pm - $15
Friday: Thurston Moore at Helsinki Hudson
It's sad that he and Kim Gordon split up. Love his story about meeting her: "Believe me, she was unbelievable when I first met her. She wore this sort of hip prison-stripe outfit and flip-up shades on her glasses. She had a ponytail, a little ponytail that was sort of center at the back of her head and I thought, 'That's the coolest f------ person I've ever met.'" 9 pm - $18 ahead / $20 at door
Friday: Charlie Albright at the Massry Center
Young star concert pianist with "jaw-dropping technique." 7:30 pm - $20
Friday: Popa Chubby band at The Van Dyke in Schenectady.
The down and dirty blues guitarist and his band play two sets at the Van Dyke tonight.7 pm and 9:30 pm - $20
Saturday: Burnt Sugar at Proctors
Part of the "Party Horns NYC" series. 7:30 pm - $15
Saturday: The Wiyos at Helsinki Hudson
Vaudeville-style folk. 9 pm - $15
Sunday: Carolina Chocolate Drops at The Egg
A string band of musicians who "play in the older tradition, but we are modern musicians." They won a Grammy in 2010 for best traditional folk band. 7:30 pm - $29.50
Skating with the champs
World-class bobsled and skeleton athletes will be on hand for an open skate at the Empire State Plaza rink on Saturday from Noon to 3.
Frost Faire
It hasn't been very frosty, but the Saratoga Battlefield is open on Saturday for its annual Frost Faire. They're planning tubing on the "Big Hill" (provided there's enough snow), a bonfire, nature hikes,horse-drawn carriage rides and other events. 10:30AM to 3PM.
Snow Train
Take the snow train out to North Creek to do some skiing,tubing, snowboarding, or just hanging out.
Hockey
+ RPI's Engineers play Clarkson on Saturday night at the Houston Field House. Make sure you know the rules before you go. 7 pm - $5-$13
+ The Albany Devils play the Adirondack Phantoms on Saturday at the TU Center. 5 pm - $15-$30
Movies
The nominations are out. How many can you see before Oscar night? The Artist, My Week With Marilyn, The Descendents, The Iron Lady, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Hugo and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close are playing locally.
Burlesque
Charmed & Dangerous performs a cabaret & burlesque show on Saturday night at Taste. 8 pm - $15
Museums
Museums are warm. And full of interesting stuff.
+ The Clark has an exhibit that examines the influence Rembrandt's work had on Degas. There's lots of Degas and some beautiful impressionist work in the museum's permanent collection as well.
+ MASS MoCA has a number of exhibits open, including "The Workers" -- a look at labor through the eyes of 40 different artists, the really-long-running Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing Retrospective, and an installation about internet memes that closes at the end of the month.
+ Lots of good (and free) stuff to see at the NYS museum, including the Shadow and Substance photo exhibit.
+ All those great old toys you grew up with, are at the "Kid Stuff" exhibit at The Albany Institute of History and Art this weekend. You can also stop by and visit the mummies.
Bake some cookies
It's cold out. Bake cookies. They're yummy and they'll make the house smell good. Here are two of the best chocolate chip cookie recipes you're likely to find (at least until the year 2040) and some interesting info to go along with them.
Farmers' markets
Winter farmers' markets are open this weekend : Saturday in Troy and Saratoga, and Sunday in Schenectady.
Brunch

Willard Mountain (willardmountain.com) in Easton is having their annual "Rock the Mountain" event on Saturday. Kid's activities, music in the lodge, a torch light parade down the mountain & fireworks -- should be fun!
