A good sleep doctor?

pillow on bedMolly asks via Twitter:

anyone know of a good sleep specialist in #albany? I've already done a sleep study, just need a doctor for check ups/treatment

Not sleeping well can really mess up your health and the way you feel. (We know people who've gotten treatment for a sleep disorder and it's made a big difference for them.)

So, know of a good sleep doctor in the area? Please share.

Earlier on AOA:
+ Ask AOA: A good doctor to treat Lyme disease?
+ Ask AOA: Suggestion of a doctor for migraines?
+ Ask AOA: A good doctor, preferably female?

I'd say this very much depends on what diagnosis came out of your sleep study. Sleep apnea will have a different treatment and kind of doctor (maybe an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist) than other forms of sleep disorders. I went to Paul Glovinsky, a psychotherapist (not M.D.) who specializes in sleep disorders, for light therapy to reboot my dysfunctional sleep/wake patterns and chronic insomnia.

Didn't the people who conducted your sleep study give you a referral list?

Whatever your situation is, I feel for you. Sleep disorders can take a terrible toll on your health as well as your personal and professional life.

Dr. Boris Medarov at Albany Med.

Dr. Ramez Awwad at Capital Region Special Surgery on New Scotland Rd.

I see Dr. Kuhar at Albany ENT for sleep apnea. I use a CPAP. I see her once a year.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
