New Troy bagel shop opening

Quick update: Psychedelicatessen -- the new bagel shop on River Street in downtown Troy -- is set to open this Friday, with a grand opening on Saturday. Talking to AOA this past spring, shop owner Laura Kerrone said of her product: "The bagels are real bagels, and that's hard to find around here. It's a third generation Jewish recipe. It's a damn good recipe and no one around here is using it."

Another feather in Troy's cap. This place looks to be awesome and is filling a gaping hole in downtown. Best of luck!

Back in 2009, All Over Albany had a post titled "Troy is the New Brooklyn," in which they asked:

"We love the Collar City, but here's what we need to know -- if Troy is the new Brooklyn, does it come with good bagels? And can Harry Tutunjian help Sandor find a decent egg cream?"

Good bagels, check. Egg cream to go.

The timing is interesting because Chris Churchill just wrote a Times Union 518 Life magazine article, with the headline: "Is Troy the New Brooklyn?"
