River Festival
Saturday: The River Festival returns to River Street in downtown Troy. It sounds like this year's festival is little different from recent years. Blurbage:

! Re-branded as the Troy River Fest, the festival is placing a key emphasis on locally crafted hand-made goods and local cuisine - all curated and located throughout the scenic, historic downtown district. While the streets will host craft, art, and food vendors and entertainment, each shop, restaurant and historic venue will have their own activities and entertainment as well. The street merchants have been curated by a panel of artists and makers to ensure the highest quality of goods.

The event also includes the fun sidewalk art contest. Saturday 11 am-7 pm - free admission

Saratoga Balloon & Craft Festival
Friday-Sunday: The Saratoga County Fairgrounds will host the Saratoga Balloon and Craft Festival this weekend with early morning and evening moon glow balloon launches, arts and crafts, food and music. Friday through Sunday - $10, $5 for children 3-15, under 3 free

Schenectady Strawberry Festival
Saturday: The annual Upper Union Street Strawberry Festival & Art Show returns. Music, activities for kids and pets, a flea market, art, food, business promotions and lots of things that are strawberry. Saturday 10am to 3pm - free admission

Albany Go Skate Day
Saturday: Go Skate Day is back at "The Blue Banks" (tennis courts) in Albany's Washington Park. This year's event is a fundraiser for the planned skate park in Albany. Saturday 10 am-5 pm - free

Dad Fest
Sunday: Albany celebrates dads this Father's Day with Dad Fest. Music, games, food vendors and a mustache contest. The festival is slated to take place at Jennings Landing along the Hudson Riverfront. In case of rain it will be held at the Corning Preserve boat launch. Sunday from 1pm to 6pm - free admission

Henry Street Bike Party
Sunday: The first Henry Street Bike Party is this weekend in Saratoga Springs. The event includes a kids bicycle parade, bike decorating contest, music, and a big wheel race. Sunday, noon to 4pm -- Free admission.

Theater

Kinky Boots
Friday-Sunday: A touring production of the Broadway musical Kinky Boots continues at Proctors. Blurbage:

Winner of six Tony Awards including BEST MUSICAL, this inspirational story follows a struggling shoe factory owner who works to turn his business around with help from Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. Together, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... proving that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.

The show includes a score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell. (And, yep, it was based on the movie of the same name.) Friday-Sunday various times - $20 and up

The Colored Museum
Friday-Sunday: Albany Civic Theater presents George C. Wolfe's The Colored Museum.

The Colored Museum presents 10 hilarious "exhibits" of African-American culture -- from the depths of the Celebrity Slaveship to the spinning heights of Harlem. Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe's groundbreaking comedy has electrified, discomforted, and delighted audiences of all colors, skewering stereotypes and redefining what it means to be Black in contemporary America.

Saturday: Capital Region's Best of the Best Comedy Contest winner Jennifer McMullen hosts a slate of local comedians at The Linda. Saturday 8 pm - $15

Improv Jam

Friday: Christ Church Albany's Movies Under the Stars series begins with a screening of Despicable Me in Ridgefield Park. The evening starts with a concert and a drum workshop for kids. Friday at 7:30 pm (movie begins at 8:30pm) - free

Art

The Late Drawings of Andy Warhol
Saturday: The Hyde Collection opens an exhibit featuring some of Any Warhol's drawings created between 1973 to 1987, one of Warhol's most prolific periods. Many of the drawings are on view to the public for the first time. The exhibit opens on Saturday night with a reception from 6:30-8 pm. It's $30 per person and includes hors d'oeurves, wine, and beer. Beginning Sunday it will be on display through September 27 as part of regular museum admission.

Best of SUNY Student Art Exhibition
The NYS Museum hosts the 2015 Best of SUNY art exhibition, showcasing art from SUNY students around the state. Open through September 6.

River Jam
Saturday/Sunday: The Tech Valley Game Space is hosting River Jam -- "a free, 'learn to make a game in 48 hours' event tailored for first time game makers who identify as women" -- at the Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy. RSVP on the Facebook page or Meetup page. Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 9 pm

Strawberry season
It's berry picking season. Here are a few places around the region where you can pick your own.

Swimming

Victoria Pool
The Victoria Pool in Saratoga Spa State Park is open this weekend. The pool will be open on weekends only until June 27. 10 am-6 pm - $8 adults / $4 kids / kids under 5 free

Beach
The beaches at Moreau Lake State Park and Grafton Lakes State Park are open for the season.

Berkshire Botanical Garden
The Berkshire Botanical Garden is open for the season. It's a nice day trip.

Farmers' markets
Capital Region farmers' markets are outdoors:
+ The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market will be will be in Riverfront Park Saturday from 9 am-2 pm. (It's not on River Street this weekend because of the River Festival.)
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market will be in High Rock Park. Saturday from 9 am-1 pm
+ The Delmar Farmers Market recently opened for the season at Bethlehem Central Middle School. Saturday 9 am-1 pm
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket will be around Schenectady City Hall. Sunday from 10 am-2 pm.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market will be outside the Lincoln Baths Sunday from 10 am-3 pm
