Wine and Dine for the Arts
Friday-Saturday: The annual Wine and Dine for the Arts food and wine festival continues into downtown Albany. The multi-day event includes tastings, chefs and restaurants, seminars, and competitions for sliders, baristas, and bartenders. (Some events have already sold out and others probably will sell out.) Friday-Saturday - various times and prices

Monster Jam
Friday-Saturday: The Times Union Center hosts the return of Monster Jam -- 12-foot-tall, thousand-pound monster trucks racing and ripping up a custom-designed track. Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm - $23 and up

Martin Luther King, Jr Day
Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr Day, a federal holiday. And the Empire State Plaza is hosting the annual memorial observance that day starting at 9:30 am.

Stage

Sleuth
Friday-Sunday: Curtain Call Theatre continues a new production of Anthony Shaffer's comedy/thriller Sleuth. Friday and Saturday at 8 pm / Sunday at 3 pm - $24

Saturday Night Fever - The Musical
Saturday: Proctors hosts a production of Saturday Night Fever - The Musical, a musical version of the 1970s film about a Brooklyn kid who wants to dance his way to a better life. Saturday at 8pm - $20-$70

Theatresports
Friday: MopCo's Theatersports returns to Proctors underground this weekend. Two teams compete against each other, creating scenes and songs based on audience suggestions. Think Whose Line is it Anyway?. Friday at 8pm - $14 / $6 students and seniors

Bindlestiff Family Cirkus
Saturday: The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus hosts a Cabin Fever Cabaret at Helsinki Hudson, with acrobats, jugglers, oddball comedians, roller skaters, daredevils, clowns and more. Saturday show at 9 pm - $25 advance / $30 at the door / (show up in clown make up or costume and tickets are $20)

Mopco Improv Jam
Saturday: The Mop & Bucket Company's monthly Improv Jam is at MopCo World Headquarters (309 Union Street, Schenectady). It's part class and part performance. Members of the improv company play and teach improv games. The audience can play along with them, or just watch the show. Saturday at 8pm - $5 or a dish to share

The nominees have been announced. It's time to catch up on what you missed.

Classics
+ The Bow Tie in Saratoga Springs is screening the 1932 classic Grand Hotel with John and Lionel Barrymore as its Saturday and Sunday morning Movies & Mimosa classic. The Insomnia Theater flick on Friday and Saturday night is the Mel Brooks film Spaceballs.

+ Regal Crossgates is screening Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid on Sunday.

Pathways to Iran
Sunday: Pathways to Iran, a monthly film series at Proctors exploring women's issues in Iran, continues with a screening of Profession: Documentarist a documentary about the lives of seven female documentary film makers. Sunday at 4pm - $10

Museums
Winter weekends are great times to wander through one of the Capital Region's museums.

+ The New York State Museum is hosting its Great Places and Spaces event. "An array of the state's historic sites and cultural institutions offer families fun hands-on activities, educational artifacts to explore, and information on regional events to visit throughout the year." Saturday noon-4 pm - free

+ The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls opens a new exhibit this weekend: Norman Rockwell in the 1960s, featuring 21 illustrations and original magazine covers "created by the beloved artist during a decade of change and turmoil." (And while you're there, here are some fun places to eat in Glens Falls.)

+ If you didn't have time to check out miSci's annual Toys and Trains show during the holidays, it's still open through Monday.

+ You can check out the Masterworks: 225 Years of Collecting exhibit at the Albany Institute. And there'a also The Capital Region in 50 Objects exhibit.

+ MASS MoCA has a handful of current exhibits/ (There's also currently a car on site for collecting LEGO for Ai Weiwei.)

+ The Clark has a good permanent collection, and there's currently an exhibit about how works have been added to it.

+ If you're up a for a bit of trip, you can head to Beacon and Dia:Beacon.

Schenectady during the Revolutionary War
Saturday: The Schenectady County Historical Society hosts author John Gearing for a look at how the American Revolution affected Schenectady -- from the evolution of a Dutch settlement to a British Colonial Village. Saturday at 2pm -- $5

Hockey

RPI and the Autism Awareness Game
Friday-Saturday: The RPI men's hockey team faces Cornell Friday night at Houston Field House (7 pm), and then hosts Colgate Saturday night (7 pm). That game against Colgate Saturday is the annual Autism Awareness Game -- it'll be conducted without music, flashing lights, or the goal horn.

Union
Friday-Saturday: The Union men's hockey team has the inverse schedule -- Colgate at Messa Rink Friday night (7 pm), and then takes on Cornell there Saturday night (7 pm).

Hoops
Saturday: The UAlbany women's basketball team takes on Maine at SEFCU Arena. The Great Danes are undefeated in conference play and feature Shereesha Richards, ranked #4 in the country in points per game. Saturday noon - $5 and up

Skating

ESP
The ice skating rink at the Empire State Plaza is open for the season. (Weather permitting -- be sure to check before going.) It's open every day 11 am-8 pm and it's free to skate. Skate rentals are $4 for adults / $3 for kids (and free on Friday).

Swinburne
Swinburne ice rink in Albany has opened for the season. The rink is open seven days a week. Hours vary. It's $1 to skate (.25 for seniors and .50 for students). Skate rental is $3.

Farmers' markets
Stop by a farmers market for something local and delicious:
+ Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is inside the Atrium. Saturday 9 am-2 pm
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market is indoors at the Lincoln Baths. Saturday from 9 am-1 pm
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket is at its indoor location at Proctors. Sunday from 10 am-2 pm.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market is inside at the Lincoln Baths Sunday from 10 am-3 pm
