A good place to get skates sharpened?

skate traces on iceJean emails:

Can anyone tell me where I can get speed ice skates sharpened? They're not done the same way as hockey or figure skates, and I haven't found anyone who'll sharpen mine. Thanks for any help, suggestions.

We've had a skate sharpening question a bunch of years ago, and we're guessing some of those places still offer the service. But we're wondering if there's like the place to get skates sharpened (or maybe there are a few of these places) -- and if that place might be able to help Jean.

Got a suggestion? Please share! And a sentence or two about why you're recommending a place is always appreciated.

Kemps in Latham closed so really the only other go-to place is Hockey Town off of Latham Circle. The Albany airport rink also does sharpenings.

Hockey Giant on Wolf Rd does a good job with my son's hockey skates. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeabl and quick.

There's a speed skating club at the Weibel Ave rink in Saratoga. You could call them and ask. They also sharpen skates there.

suggest asking one of these folks....

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the ideas. Didn't know about those clubs and have contacted them. The hockey places won't do speed skates, and I've had some pretty funny reactions from them. Will post any positive results I get.
