We don't want to seem alarmist, or be the bearers of bad news, but we're almost out of summer weekend. If there's something on your summer to-do list that you want to squeeze in -- now is the time.

Altamont Fair
Friday-Sunday: The Altamont Fair -- the county fair for Albany, Schenectady, and Greene counties -- is at the fairgrounds in Altamont. This is its 123rd year. The one-price admission includes "admission, parking, music, circus and unlimited rides shows." Friday-Sunday -- $17 / children under 36 inches are free (rides not included)

Downtown Albany Residential Open House
Friday: The Downtown Albany Residential Open House returns this Friday. Eight properties will be showing residential units during the self-guided tour. Friday from 4pm to 7pm --Free

Philadelphia Orchestra
Friday-Saturday: The Philadelphia Orchestra wraps up its summer stay at SPAC this weekend.
+ Friday: Violinist Joshua Bell and trumpeter Chris Botti
+ Saturday: Brahms, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky (and the 1812 Overture)

Park Playhouse
Friday-Saturday: Park Playhouse in Albany's Washington Park continues its production of The Little Mermaid, adapted from the Disney film. (It runs through August 27.) Tuesday-Saturday 7:30 pm -- free on the lawn / reserve tickets $16 and up

Love, Loss, and What I Wore
Friday-Saturday: Curtain Call Theatre's production of Nora and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss, and What I Wore continues this weekend in Latham. Friday and Saturday various times -- $24

The Taming of the Shrew
Friday and Sunday: The Steamer 10 production of Taming of the Shrew continues. The performances this weekend are the rain location, the Steamer 10 theater. Friday and Saturday 6:30 pm / Sunday 3:30 pm - Free admission (donations appreciated)

Sister Act
Friday-Sunday: The Mac-Haydn Theatre's production of Sister Act, the musical based on the 1992 Whoopi Goldberg comedy, will conclude its run this weekend. Friday-Saturday various times -- $14-$34

Williamstown Theatre Festival
Friday-Sunday: This is the last weekend for The Williamstown Theatre Festival. Wendy Wasserstein's An American Daughter is on the main stage. And WTF's production of And No More Shall We Part, starring Jane Kaczmarek and Alfred Molina, is on the Nikos Stage. various times -- $40 and up

Bing Bamboo Room Burlesque
Sunday: The Bing Bamboo Room Burlesque company presents A Day at the Races -- a racing-themed burlesque show -- at The Low Beat in Albany (18+). Sunday 8 pm (doors at 7 pm) -- $15

Movies Under The Stars: E.T.
Friday: The Christ's Church Albany, The Helderberg Neighborhood Association, and The Pine Hills Neighborhood Association will be holding an outdoor showing of Steven Spielberg's E.T. -The Extra Terrestrial at Ridgefield Park in Albany. Free popcorn and snowcones available and pre show music from The Canjo 10's. Friday 8:30 pm (activities start at 7:30 pm) -- free admission

For the Love of Spock
Saturday: It Came From Schenectady will present a screening of the documentary For the Love of Spock, based around the life of actor Leonard Nimoy and his famous Star Trek character. Saturday 2 pm, 4 pm, and 7 pm -- $9

Shakespeare Live!
Friday-Sunday: The Madison Theater will be screening a recording of last April's Shakespeare Live!, which celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the playwright's death. The special recorded from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre features appearances from notable actors like Helen Mirren, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, and more. Friday 7 pm / Saturday and Sunday 2 pm and 7 pm -- $10

Scarlett Street and Mulholland Drive
The Madison Theater is screening a pair of classics from different eras.
+ Scarlett Street: Edward G. Robinson and Joan Bennett star in a film about a man in this 1945 noir film about a man in a mid-life crises who befriends a young woman, whose fiancé persuades her to con him out of the fortune they think he has.

Museums/Galleries

Hudson Valley Ruins
The NYS Museum opens a new exhibit this weekend: Hudson Valley Ruins. It includes more than 80 photographs by Robert Yasinsac and Thomas Rinaldi of "forgotten historic sites and cultural treasures in the Hudson River Valley." It will be on display through the end of 2017.

Splendor, Myth, and Vision
Now on display at The Clark: Splendor, Myth, and Vision: Nudes from the Prado. Blurbage: "The exhibition explores the role of the nude in European painting in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and the collecting and display practices of the Spanish royalty. Twenty-four of the paintings have never before been shown in America." It's on display through October 10.

Alexander Hamilton
The Albany Institute of History and Art recently opened a new exhibit on the life of Alexander Hamilton and his time in Albany. Hamilton, who has experienced a resurgence in popularity due to Lin Manuel Miranda's award-winning musical based on his life, married Elizabeth Schuyler at the Schuyler Mansion in Albany and visited the city often after that. The exhibit highlights objects related to Hamilton, including a portrait from the permanent collection of Union College. (On display through December 31.)

A More Perfect Union
The Tang presents: A More Perfect Union -- a new exhibit featuring Mel Ziegler's Multi-Year Project Flag Exchange. The installation includes 50 American flags collected by Ziegler, who traveled the country trading new flags for tattered ones flying at homes and public locations. (Runs through January.) free admission (suggested donations of $2 - $5)

Ansel Adams
The Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown has an exhibit of early works by Ansel Adams on display through September 18.

Circus
The Arkell Museum has an exhibit of circus-themed art and vintage circus marketing materials. On display through October 16.

Best of SUNY Student Art
This year's Best of SUNY Student Art Exhibition is now on display at the State Museum. It's on display through October 23.

Fence Select
The annual Fence Select show recently opened at the Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy. It'll be on display through August 27.

Sculpture parks
Maybe you'd like to explore some sculpture parks around the region.

Day trips
Explore some waterfalls, head for The Berkshires, The Catskills, or Columbia County. Or check out a state park.

Swimming
Swimming season is winding down in the Capital Region. Here's a list of local pools, beaches and spray pads, complete with dates, pricing and other important details. (The Lincoln Park Pool in Albany has been closed lately because because of water conservation measures related to the South Lake Ave sinkhole.)

Farmers' markets
+ Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is in Riverfront Park for the rest of the summer because of the planned construction on River Street. Saturday 9 am-2 pm
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market is outdoors at High Rock Park. Saturday from 9 am-1 pm
+ The Delmar Farmers Market is at Bethlehem Central Middle School. Saturday 9 am-1 pm
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket is at its outdoor location around City Hall. Sunday from 10 am-2 pm.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market is outdoors to the lawn at the Lincoln Baths. Sunday from 10 am-3 pm
