A quick recap of the week

week review 2009-02-07

Here are a few highlights from the last week on AOA:

+ We put together a quick backgrounder on Scott Murphy, the Democratic candidate in the special election to replace Kirsten Gillibrand.

+ SNL did another David Paterson skit -- and people were split over whether it was funny.

+ This year's RPM Challenge features a bunch of local bands/projects.

+ If Wetterschadenfreude isn't a word, it should be.

+ Panda, the guide horse, might need to get an agent.

+ We did some fuzzy math on some squishy numbers to figure out how much more those Spanish-style houses in Albany are worth than a typical house.

+ Jess checked out the new "Live with Less" exhibit at UAlbany.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Congressional poetry, Grand Slams, car wrecks, potholes, looking good, alligator, puppy people and worms.

+ Overheard outside the liquor store.

+ An infamous anti-gay group is planning a protest in Albany -- and it sparked an interesting and thoughtful discussion about the appropriate response.

+ A few items on Craigslist this week: pythons, skinny pigs, triple word scoring, Chuck-E-Cheese and another hot Pepsi guy sighting.

+ We listened to a podcast in which James Howard Kunstler "jumped on" Harry Tutunjian in the street.

+ Eat this: macaroni and cheese at Hattie's.

Thanks to everyone who sent along ideas, links and corrections. And thanks especially for all the great comments this week.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
