About the Thaddeus Kosciusko Bridge
"I always took great joy in pronouncing the bridge, "Kahz-key-ooze-ko" or "Kas-ke-as-ko". Although incorrect, I always loved blurting out those hard "k"s as the traffic began flowing freely after the long sits on the Northway. It was a purging of intestinal grief, giving me at least some hope that I might get to work on time.
Now pronouncing the soft "choosh" just doesn't give the same relief. "

About (518) 867-5309
"Thanks for posting that number.... I had asked my friend Ricky to keep it for me, but he lost it. I kept reminding him, Ricky, don't lose that number, you don't want to call nobody else", but he didn't listen."

About the Caesar salad by Derrida
"Perhaps they could call it "Deconstructing Caesar"? "

About Carolyn Maloney taking on Kirsten Gillibrand
"I'm happy Maloney is running in the primary because I think voters should get choices, whether I end up voting for her or Gillibrand. Obama should not lean on candidates to drop out. And as a liberal, I'm not all that thrilled with the whole Blue Dog Democrat bit so I'll be comparing Gillibrand and Mahoney on various issues."

About a big rock for sale on Craigslist
"The last time I saw a rock that big on a piece of property, Australian aboriginals were worshiping it."

About foxes and fishers and bears
"This all reminds me of the time I had to go out in the middle of the night and shoot a bear in my pajamas...how he got in my pajamas I'll never know.
ZINNNNGGGG! Thanks, I'll be here til five. "

About photos of people who post on Craigslist
"Chilling & powerful. I'm both surprised & relieved that I didn't recognize anyone. "
... said Mrs. Misanthrope
"I actually think most of these portraits are strangely beautiful in that way that sadness is sort of beautiful. The human condition in all forms --- in our loneliness, our sexuality, even our hangups -- really is amazing to witness. It's so easy for me to forget that and to become totally jaded and critical of the people I encounter daily - but a collection like this reminds me that we're all sort of in the same boat, with all of us sometimes trying to float upstream against the current."

Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
