Troy Dinosaur done deal
Harry Tutunjian says the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has officially closed on the old Fresno's building along the Hudson in Troy. He says the Troy Dino is expected to open in early next year (well, his tweet says "early 2009," but we figure he meant 2010).
The Troy Record reports that the mayor says the new Dino will be part of a larger plan for the riverfront that includes the soon-to-be-former city hall site and Riverfront Park.

You can't barbeque a dinosaur, they've been extinct for millions of years - I bet these guys substitute dinosaur meat with pork and beef.

FINALLY, the trek to Syracuse is tiring.

C'mon Barold... you *know* that really good barbeque takes a hell of a long time to cook.

I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that this amazing location is being put to good use.
Every time I drive by the abandoned Fresno's it physically pains me. And then I think... I should open a restaurant there. Which is a very bad thought indeed.
Thankfully that can be put to rest, and I can just look forward to the day when I can eat my hot and smokey ribs while looking out over the frozen Hudson.

I eat at Dino in Syracuse about once a month while on business trips. I started eating there about ten years ago and think the place is fabulous. While I am not a big meat eater, they make it worth eating and the non-meat things are great too. I am really looking forward to their arrival.
Syracuse Dinosaur specializes in surley biker waitresses. I am not sure Troy will be able to match Syracuse in that category.

Dinosaur is ok, but what we really need is a Brook's BBQ outlet up here.

I'm going to beat them to the punch and open my own b-b-q place called Brontosaurus Brisket.

Maybe they can hook up with John Ray & Sons Oil in Troy for a promo - they have a big old dinosaur on the top of their building on 6th!

This (former) Syracuse gal is happy. Let's hope we can start buying Dinosaur BBQ products in the grocery stores around here. (Sauces, BBQ potato chips, etc). Although it may put my Central NY Products import business out of business.

@Diana: We found Dino pulled pork at the Slingerlands Chopper last year. And I'm pretty sure you can get their sauces there, too.
