A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-08-20

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Sebastien shared some photos from this year's Warrior Dash at Windham.

+ After moving from out of town, ajw93 asked about finding a local high school football team to root for.

+ We had a very good dinner at Local 111.

+ Albany (officially) switched to single-stream recycling -- that means it all goes in one bin.

+ You know those great "Albany is EGGCELLENT" t-shirts? They're available again. Also: Troy, can you dig it?

+ EMPAC's fall schedule is out -- we shared a few of the events that caught our eye.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the Tour de Fish Fry, cat poop, Brooklyn and Troy, a critique, pedestrians risking harm, the rodeo, Garden Bistro 24, lobster, Taylor ham, the Catskills, liquid nitrogen, a birthday margarita, boxing, a very fine cat, and ribbons.

+ Danielle talked with local artist C. Ryder Cooley, whose performances include trapeze, taxidermied animals, and music.

+ What, you've never heard of "the Wizard of Schenectady," Charles Steinmetz?! Here's a good place to start.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: an indie princess sharing the password for indie princes, gorgeous blue eyes on the loose in Troy, a 6-foot chocolate Santa mold, and Monarch caterpillars.

+ And Nick put together a short tour of factory tours in Vermont.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared a photo or idea this week!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
