A quick recap of the week

week review 2012-09-08

Here are a few highlights from the past short week on AOA:

+ Duncan was on the Soapbox, sticking up for the Scottish upstate.

+ Daniel says TC Bakery and its macarons are like a little bit of Paris in Albany.

+ We looked at the Saratoga Race Course season in numbers.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: photo finish, cider donuts, a bloody ambush, Swinburne, eating through the State Fair, seriously good sandwiches, Siro's, Octoberfest beer, ice cream, a stubby bottle bonanza, sheep, geese on leashes, ballroom dancing, and dogs.

+ Proctors is starting a film series that's kind of crazy (in the good way).

+ Kirsten Gillibrand was on the Daily Show.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a county fair compliment, a bear hunting booty call, a Victorian inn, and a centrifuge.

+ Casey visited the Crossroads Brewing Company in Athens.

+ We gave away ValleyCats playoff tickets by asking: Who is the Capital Region's MVP?

+ Everything is going on this weekend.

+ And he's looking right back at you.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

It's a colossal social failure that starts with the breakdown of families and then circles back around to more breakdown of families. I've lived next to drop-outs, and I've seen firsthand the lack of parenting that sends the signal, passed from generation to generation. No magical teacher or administrator is going to reach down and counter that effect.
