A quick recap of the week

week review 2013-03-09

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We gave away tickets to the Lisa Loeb show at the Troy Music Hall -- with a gift certificated for The Confectionery -- by asking: What makes you "stay" in the Capital Region?

+ Sean Rowe made his national TV debut.

+ There's a proposal for a new concert venue in North Albany.

+ That prompted us to wonder about how the area's concert venues stack up in terms of size, from big to small.

+ Daniel says you try the boxty at Finnbar's in Troy.

+ Casey checked out the very popular monthly tasting of exotic teas at the Whistling Kettle.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Sean Rowe, house hunting, an unusual ad, people who chose not to have kids, thinking about 31, supermarket flyers, restaurant pricing, the Capital Region's "Secret Hot Dog Shop-Phone Booth-Bar" taco night, cucumber/mango/salmon, Old Chatham, another act of meatloafistry, herzlichen gluckwunsch, turkey tails, and a dream window.

+ Troy police seized the bad kind of pancake.

+ It's true: ice cream stand season has arrived.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: pulsing electricity, double crossing, the pong scene, and a carnival wheel.

+ Xina asked about where to go for corned beef and cabbage.

+ Zach asked for advice on how to go about finding someone to install an egress for his basement.

+ And more bumper gawking.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
