A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-09-05

Here are a few highlights from the past short week on AOA:

+ We gave away tickets to the Saratoga Wine & Food Festival by asking: What's something memorable that you ate locally this summer?

+ Kaitlin asked about what to do with used books.

+ Anonymous asked about finding a good plastic surgeon. (We could still use a few more suggestions for this one.)

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: embracing the end of summer, Adirondack goodness, paddle boarding, Indian Kill Preserve, leaving Albany, foods for the new to here, Burger 21, Saigon Pearl, salads, Paris-Brest, Pints 4 Paws, flower crowns, and the 44-hour week.

+ Albany County, Wyoming is named after Albany, New York -- here's how that happened.

+ Lauren talked with the organizer of the screen printing biennial that's coming to the Capital Region.

+ We talked with one of the co-authors of Upper Hudson Valley Beer about seeing the history of this place through beer-colored lenses.

+ Lauren checked out the new menswear shop in downtown Troy.

+ The long-awaited (maybe) return of bumper gawking.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
