A quick recap of the week

week review 2014-10-10

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We gave away tickets to see Lewis Black at The Palace by asking: What's something in the Capital Region that gets you agitated or fired up?

+ Sean asked about favorite fall hikes.

+ AOA has a new advice columnist -- Miss Pearl -- and she took on questions about moving from Albany, and meeting new people.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: miraculous human synergy, defending Albany, red light camera arguments, Kaaterskill Falls, the Ragnar relay, New Hampshire, a toilet paper holder emergency, faith in the pizza universe, Next Door Kitchen & Bar, Public House 42, breakfast before apple picking, salad, supermarket shopping, mini hot dogs, and another duel with the car dealer data industrial complex.

+ We gave away tickets to see author Chuck Palahniuk at Skidmore by asking: If the Capital Region -- either the whole area, or one specific part of it -- was a novel, what would its title be?

+ Lauren checked out Saratoga National Historic Park.

+ We got a look at a new exhibit at the Albany Institute about textiles -- it turns out quilts were like Pinterest in the 18th century.

And the 2014 Tournament of Pizza, sponsored by Keeler Mini, continued!

+ The first leg of the semifinal involved four former champs facing off against each other with "classic" pizzas.

+ The second leg of the semifinal was spicy.

+ And we crunched the numbers of 174 pizzas from the TOP's modern era.

Here's the whole week all lined up.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
